Kali River Rapids sends rafts for up to twelve riders down the fictional Chakranadi River through the Asia area of the park. Along the way it tells a conservation story about illegal logging, from lush jungle to charred forest, ending with a drop of about nine metres and plenty of spray. It opened in 1999, a year after Disney's Animal Kingdom itself.
