A credit is something to be proud of. That is why we keep one clear rule for each kind of ride, so everyone knows where they stand and the leaderboard stays fair.
Whatever is generally recognised as a rollercoaster counts here too. That includes kiddie coasters and Butterflies. A coaster that runs partly through a dark hall, like Arthur in Europa-Park, is still a rollercoaster.
You sit in a vehicle that takes you past scenes: a car, a boat, a little train, an endless chain or a madhouse. A train ride through the park counts too, as soon as there is something to experience along the way, like a tunnel with figures or animatronics. A moving platform in real sets, with animatronics and no screen, counts too, like Danse Macabre at Efteling.
Log flumes, river rapids and boat rides count when the theming is really there: an atmosphere that carries you along, sets or animatronics. A bare track without a story does not. We look at that ride by ride.
Bumper cars, carousels, Ferris wheels and other flat rides, simulators where a screen is the main act, 3D and 4D films, theatres with moving seats, flying theatres and walkthroughs. They are often beautifully done, but they don't carry you through a world in a vehicle, and that is what Ridden is about. A flat ride can still count when it is fully part of the theme, with a queue that tells the story, built scenery or animatronics, and is also a real experience through thrill or story. Think of Pixarus at Toverland or De Oude Tufferbaan at Efteling.
Some rides have two identical tracks side by side. Whether that is one ride or two, we decide per park. At Efteling, Max & Moritz is one ride. At Walibi Holland, YOY Thrill and YOY Chill are two.
We use the name the park itself uses, even when it is German, French or Italian. A ride has one name, the same in Dutch and English. If you know it by another name, you can often find it in the search box too.
A ride that has closed stays a credit if you rode it. For the park badge and the number of rides you still have to do, only rides that operate today count.
More in the FAQIs a ride missing, does one not belong, or is a name or detail off? Let us know. We look at borderline cases one by one, and sometimes you are simply right.
Do you work at a park? We would love to hear from you. You know your own rides best, and with a link to the official page we can check it quickly.
