Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey opened with Universal Studios Beijing in September 2021. Riders sit on enchanted benches held by a KUKA robotic arm, which swings them past real sets, animatronics and wraparound projection screens. As in the other Universal versions, the story of about four minutes runs through Hogwarts Castle, the Sorting Hat, Dumbledore's welcome, Hagrid, a Quidditch match and the Forbidden Forest.
