Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey combines a robotic arm ride system with immersive screens to simulate a broomstick flight through Hogwarts castle, alongside Harry, Ron and Hermione, past dragons, dementors and a Quidditch match. Universal Studios Japan's version opened in 2014 with the park's Wizarding World of Harry Potter, replicating the ride system built at other Universal resorts.
