Living with the Land is a boat ride through greenhouses in The Land pavilion at Epcot, opened in October 1982. It starts with theatrical scenes of a thunderstorm in a forest, a rainforest, a desert and an American prairie, then glides through working greenhouses. Growing methods on show include hydroponics in sand, perlite and coconut coir, and aeroponics, where roots are misted with nutrients. The tour takes about fifteen minutes and shows how farming can be efficient and sustainable.
