The Haunted Mansion opened in New Orleans Square at Disneyland in 1969. Riders board Doom Buggies, an Omnimover system that turns each car toward the scenes, and pass through a stretching room, a ballroom where waltzing ghosts use a Pepper's ghost illusion, a graveyard of singing busts, an attic with the bride Constance Hatchaway and a crypt with the Hitchhiking Ghosts. Marc Davis, Claude Coats and X Atencio shaped it. Since 2001 it turns into Haunted Mansion Holiday for Halloween and Christmas.
Handbills at Disneyland's entrance announced a 1963 opening, but Haunted Mansion only welcomed guests in August 1969.
